Dána M. Langford receives the ‘I Stand With Her, Architect For Change Award,’ from Women in Medicine

On Friday, September 19th, Dána M. Langford received the ‘I Stand With Her, Architect For Change Award,’ from Women in Medicine at the EmpowerHer MED Gala in Chicago, IL. This award is a tremendous honor and “recognizes an organization, program, or initiative making a measurable impact on women’s heath, access to care, or the advancement of women in medical careers.  It is meant to recognize creative, sustainable solutions to the barriers that prevent a better future or women everywhere.” Women in Medicine empowers women in healthcare to collaborate and work to build a stronger healthcare system that provides exceptional care to all.

Dána M. Langford, MS, CNM, FACNM, a Cleveland native, is the Founder and CEO of Village of Healing, a pioneering healthcare and community development organization established in 2019, in Northeast Ohio. A Certified Nurse Midwife, healthcare entrepreneur, and consultant, she is committed to transforming healthcare delivery through culturally sensitive, holistic, and community-centered models of care. In 2022, her dream came true, The Village of Healing Center, opened its doors as Cuyahoga County’s 1st and only Black led and operated medical center with all Black providers focused on the health and mental healthcare of Black families.

Under her leadership, and guided by a mission to provide wholistic, culturally sensitive healthcare, The Village of Healing Center has expanded to multiple sites, offering an inclusive range of services that empower healthier, more resilient generations. Our comprehensive services provided by a nurse practitioner-based model, include primary care, obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, an innovative postpartum care model and mental healthcare for men, women, and children. Our all-Black provider team-including nurse practitioners, midwives, mental health therapists, and doctors-takes a whole-person approach that fosters trust and improves health outcomes.

Beyond organizational leadership, Dána serves on several nonprofit boards, including the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center, and has earned recognition as a distinguished leader in healthcare and minority health advocacy. Through her practice, consulting, and scholarship, she continues to advance equity, empower communities, and reimagine systems of care to better serve Black women and families across Ohio.
